Why Mix Isolation with Compound Movement
Design by Author

In the gym, a bodybuilding style of training is known as optimal for muscle growth, and powerlifting style for strength. Here what I wanted to say is people look at compound movements for strength-building perspective and isolation for muscle. But is it right? Should you follow the old school way of training or add something new to get the best outcome possible from both sides.

For that reason here in this blog, I am going to share with you if it is possible to mix the compound with isolation and also how to get the best outcome possible from both of them.

Is it a good idea to mix them

Of course! I mean why not. Even pro bodybuilders choose compound movements like bench press, squat, and especially deadlift. For instance, you can follow Chris Bumstead who really likes doing squat and deadlifts.

Mixing compound with isolation help in getting both aesthetics and strength.

Disclaimer — Diet is everything. No matter what training split you follow, if you do not focus or have a balanced diet you will never get what you want to achieve. For that reason, to help you out I have written a blog on how to create a personalized diet plan without any nutritional knowledge (click on the link) which you must checkout. I bet you will not need any blog/video to check for creating a diet plan after that.

How to mix the compound with isolation

You accept it or not compound exercises are tiring. And for that reason start your exercises with compound movements. Then end with isolation exercises. So the training will look like this,

  • Warm-up.
  • Compound exercises.
  • Isolation movements.
  • Stretching.

That's it. No need to complexify anything. Also, increase your weight slowly and in isolation exercises go till failure for maximum result.

That's it for the blog.
